GAC’s Adoption Kennel

Our rescue facility is comprised of a main kennel building that holds 36 greyhounds in air-conditioned comfort. The dogs reside in large, airy wire crates with padded soft beds, fresh water, toys and chewies. Most track dogs are accustomed to crating and they enjoy the routine of “turnout” four times daily, as well as additional walks and enrichment activities.

The GAC main kennel building has a kitchen, office, laundry room and bathroom. Behind the kennel building are the turnout yards where dogs enjoy interacting with each other, splashing in the wading pools and getting lots of affection from volunteers. These yards are kept clean and sanitary thanks to the professionally designed layout of concrete and ample grated drains.

Behind the turnout yards are 13 canine condos with comfortable heated and air-conditioned bedrooms and access to an outdoor play area. Greyhounds who enjoy their condos live in a cage-free, muzzle-free condition, often sharing their condo and bedroom with a well-matched companion.

Typically, we have between 40-50 dogs residing at our Center daily. However, when well-matched dogs share canine condos, our capacity can reach as high as 63 dogs on premises. We also maintain some greyhounds in local foster homes.
