GAC 30 for 30 – Celebrating 30 Greyt Years!

The Greyhound Adoption Center turns 30 this year  —  #30greytyears!
30 years of rescuing greyhounds and greyhound mixes.
30 years of dedicated service from countless volunteers.
30 years of extraordinarily generous donations from people who believe in our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home retired track dogs.

It all started with our Founder, Darren Rigg rescuing his first greyhound, a former track dog, from the streets of San Diego in 1984. After learning that track dogs were destroyed once their racing days were over, he decided to take action. And so began the journey…

Thousands of rescued hounds later, we are celebrating the evolution of the Greyhound Adoption Center. From its humble backyard beginnings to the 3.5 acre kennel facility in Dehesa, our mission has never strayed for the past 30 years.

We’ve done some amazing things over the years, but until the last racetrack closes forever, there is more work to do. We thank all of our loyal supporters for helping us exceed our goal of raising $30,000 in celebration of the last 30 years.

We hope greyhound racing will be a thing of the past soon, but in the meantime, let’s ensure that GAC can continue to rescue and provide for these deserving greyhounds.  If you would like to help us continue our mission please consider a membership donation.
