In May of 2013, Facebook actually helped GAC track down a beautiful blue and white boy named Brady who had been living on his own outside Fresno, Calif. for at least three years. This sweet dog had been “adopted” by a farming family who kept him fed after he wandered onto their land, but they were never able to get close to him. When Brady had a tussle with their other dogs, he was captured by local authorities who posted his picture on the county shelter website. Several animal rescue groups that track Facebook postings alerted GAC that a greyhound was up for adoption.

GAC’s network of volunteers sprang into action, bringing Brady to San Diego where he immediately settled into kennel life. One of the volunteers recognized Brady from a failed rescue attempt three years prior – when he first showed up on that Fresno-area farm. Seems Brady had been enjoying the great outdoors and managing to elude capture for quite some time! But all the creature comforts at GAC must have convinced him it was okay to trust people. He was adopted in just a few months and has become a beloved pet.
