How We are Funded
Established 1987, Greyhound Adoption Center is a nonprofit IRS 501(c)3 organization. ID# 95-4132021. State Charity Reg. # CT-101720
Our loyal members make yearly contributions to help GAC remain an important voice for the greyhounds. The strength of combined contributions provides food, medical care, beds, chewies and toys for all the dogs in addition to investing in the future so GAC will be there for greyhounds still waiting to be rescued. Become a member now!
Monthly sponsors are a critical part of our community. With a monthly donation of only $20 or more, sponsors are rewarded with photos of their sponsor dogs, along with personalized letters about these greyhounds written by a GAC volunteer. When a sponsored dog is adopted, a special letter is dispatched with details on the greyhound’s new home. Our sponsor program is currently the single biggest income generator for GAC. Many of our sponsor dogs are “special needs” greyhounds requiring additional resources to provide food, medicine and other care while they stay at our adoption center. Our special family of monthly sponsors enjoy a unique, genuine bond with each dog they support. Sign up now or give greyhound sponsorship as a unique and enjoyable gift.
As a federally approved 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, we rely on generous donations from a variety of private philanthropists and corporate foundations to sustain our rescue operations. We are grateful for the generous support of the ASPCA, Petco Foundation, Doris Day Animal Foundation, Ethel Frends Foundation, McCrea Family Trust, and the Best Friends Animal Society.
Canine Sports Center
Greyhound Adoption Center also raises revenue by running an on-site facility for dogs and their owners – the Canine Sports Center. The Canine Sports Center is open to the public and the $40 monthly membership fee supports GAC. For hours of operation and directions visit: www.caninesportscenter.org

Who doesn’t like to party with the hounds? Our Reggae Goes to the Dogs – a Family Festival for the Love of Dogs to Benefit Greyhound Rescue on June 23, 2013 raised $11,000 thanks to nearly 400 music fans and dog lovers who turned out for five bands, gourmet food trucks and plenty of games for dogs and people at our kennel site.
