How To Adopt a Greyhound

The Houndsaver Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with you filling out our online application below
You'll be contacted by a Houndsavers placement representative for a brief telephone interview

A home visit will be scheduled for meeting family members & pets, and to talk about what you're looking for in a greyhound

Our experienced team will search for greyhounds that are a good fit for you and will schedule a visit to help you find a greyhound that you will love

A $295 adoption fee includes micro-chipping, greyhound safety collar and 6-foot leash, and DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella vaccinations; spay or neuter, complete dental care, worming, and various blood tests.

We are currently not accepting applications from families with cats, small dogs, or children ages 6 or younger due to a shortage of greyhounds that are testing as "safe" with one or all of these.

We are only able to consider applications from the following CA counties: San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, Sacramento, and parts of the following counties: Contra Costa, San Joaquin, Yolo, Butte, Nevada, Placer, Sutter, El Dorado, and Amador. NO OUT-OF-STATE ADOPTIONS.
