The amazing recovery of GAC’s Asha just got better with the news this sweet girl has been adopted.
Still healing from breaking her back legs on the racetrack late last year, Asha will be headed home soon to join the family of Rabbi Rita Hertzberg Winstead who lives just north of Los Angeles.
Rabbi Rita met with Asha’s surgeon Dr. Guy Tarvin on June 28th at the VCA Animal Specialty Hospital in San Diego. We invited the media and there was a great story on CBS News 8 and another wonderful story in the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Asha will soon be fitted with doggie orthotics to keep her legs steady while she heals. And there are plans in the work to have Asha become a therapy dog, boosting the spirits of everyone she meets.
She will be missed at the GAC kennel, but we are thrilled she is joining a family with another GAC greyhound – 7-year-old Wally and a 13-year old Catahoula Leopard dog named Mattie. Way to go Asha!
