The Greyhound Adoption Center is proud to announce the receipt of new grants to help more greyhounds!
The Doris Day Animal Foundation (DDAF) has awarded GAC a 2015 grant to fund our Permanent Foster Care Program that provides food and medicine for older and infirmed dogs who are not likely to be adopted. This is the third year that DDAF has underwritten the program which is a substantial lifeline for the 22 GAC dogs currently being cared for in loving, permanent foster homes statewide. Founded by legendary performer, Doris Day, DDAF has a straightforward mission: to help animals and the people who love them. Thank you, Miss Day!
GAC also received a grant from the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation to fund antibiotics for GAC dogs rescued this year. The Foundation believes in the teddy bear philosophy of being good people and good bears. We second that! Many thanks to the bears and all the folks at Build-A-Bear Workshop.
Fundraising is essential to maintaining GAC’s rescue efforts. Food and medical care this year will cost almost $200,000. If you know of a foundation that might support GAC, please email our volunteer grants coordinator: francie@franciemurphy.com or call her at 858-350-5152.
